If I delete my Gmail account does my google voice get deleted too?

I have a gmail.com account but it’s filling up with spam mail really fast. I want to get rid of it but I don’t want my google voice number to get deleted too. Does anyone know if gmail and google voice go together or is it safe to delete my gmail account?
